Who knows what the World Wide Web is? From the words, World=Global, Wide=Large,
Web=Net. The World Wide Web, is the most commercial aspect of the Internet
today. It has introduced new business standards in the market arena today. One
of these standards relates to commerce. Before going on, we would like to
briefly touch upon the history of the Web.
The Web was introduced in a physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. It was
originally conceived in 1989 and the main idea was that information should be
accessible through a simple layout from any kind of computer, anywhere on a
network of computers.
When it became publicly available in 1991, the Internet community jumped on it
immediately. When in 1994 Netscape Navigator - a graphical user interface called
a Browser - was introduced, it gave the Web a new look, appealing to a greater
group of people than to computer geniuses only.
The Web has almost one billion users worldwide, two-thirds of which are in the
US. The typical users are avid book readers and spend more time engaged in
social activities.
The purpose of this site is to demonstrate how the World Wide Web can make money
for anyone and how it has changed the way of making business.
